Polini Italian Cup 2024: third stage in Ortona
« Sizzling » weekend for the Polini Italian Cup, which got into action on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th June on the Abruzzo International Circuit for the third round of this 2024 season. The Polini South Cup was also on track, and after the first round in Latina, in Ortona (PE) it ran the second challenge on the calendar.
A real party, enriched by the presence of YouTubers Siw93 and the super Ila Neutro in connection from the pit lane. The weekend was characterized by high temperatures that did not make the work easy for pilots and teams, looking for the best solutions to face the very hot 1.600 meters of the Abruzzo track. Scuffles, falls, fear, joy, adrenaline, twists and suspense: these were the ingredients of this third stage!
70 Amateurs and 70 South Amateurs
Race 1has the signature of D’Agostino, author of a super test ahead of Candelori and Barbin.
In Race 2 D’Agostino started well again and managed to keep poleman Candelori behind him. There was a brawl between the two, but D’Agostino was betrayed by a slip and from that moment Candelori carried out a one man show that leaded him to victory without errors and with a wide margin. Behind him the positions remained unchanged throughout the race with Davì second and Querengo third. In the 70 South Amateurs the victories were shared between Presta and Modesti. In Race 1 Del Plato finished second and Modesti third, while in Race 2 Mileti was second and Notarangelo third.

Polini Italian Cup 2024 : 70 Supersport
In Race 1 Leonardi took the lead after a good comeback. He tried to gain ground, but suffered attacks from Canali, who managed to take first position. Ciuffolo did well to grab third position after a good battle that lasted for all 12 laps with Rea. It’s a shame for Cimatti, who started from pole position and finished fifth.
Race 2 is a real overtaking challenge between Leonardi and Canali. Starting from the seventh grid box he did very well to take the lead and, with a real hammer pace, he crossed the finish line first ahead of Canali. Third position for Rea.

Race 1 was conditioned by slips with Lanzilao who, starting from the front, immediately lost the rear and found himself involved in a tough comeback from tenth position. Iannini took advantage of this and did well to take the lead. Ciotola tried to take positions by passing the group of Slovenian pilots, but unfortunately, he slipped to the back due to a mistake. Exciting race with Iannini busy defending the small advantage he had collected over the Slovenians, with the Mihael brothers eventually finishing second and third, while Koren crossed the finish line fourth.
In Race 2 Koren took the lead followed by Martin Mihael, Ciotola and Lanzilao. Unfortunately another mistake saw Ciotola out of the running. The checkered flag declared Koren the winner ahead of Mihael Martin and Iannini.
The 70 South Evolution saw Iannini’s dominance in both heats. He scored a beautiful double ahead of Curino and Carbonara, both twice in second and third position.

Polini Italian Cup 2024 : 100 Big Evo Open e 100 Sport
A day of twists and turns and fear for the 100 Big Evo Open and 100 Sport, which saw the Team Polini pilots a double out on the third lap of Race 1. Corsi left the scene on the third lap, while Tiraferri lost control of his Zip leaving the small chicane before the finish line. These were moments of panic, with both pilots on the ground and then transferred first to the medical centre and then to the Chieti hospital for checks. The race was temporary suspended and restarted for 9 laps after the lunch break.
Both the 100 Big Evo races bore the signature of Roman, who won with an advantage ahead of Morelli and Birtele, engaged in a good challenge for the second position. In the 100 Sport, a double for Cinfarani, first ahead of Picciallo in Race 1 and Urbano in Race 2. Amico closed both times in third place.
