«I’m running fast” Vasco Rossi sang in the 80’s, but about Polini Italian Cup, which has been planned for twelve years now by Moto Club Bergamo, it’s a recurring sentence of those who competed in the six classes or attended the third meeting of this national scooter race, in the splendid backdrop of the track in Viterbo. The race disputed during the weekend of 12th June on dry asphalt, after the initial morning tests in the rain, was rich in tough contests, duels and sudden changes from start to end. There’s been a big show and a large patrol of foreign riders coming from Slovenia, Holland and Switzerland, quick riders like Ales Rakun, Marko Mihael, Sarik Roufs, Sergiy Petrakov, Ron Boon, Oliver Knecht, Aaron Larcher.

Matteo Tiraferri at start of Race 1 sprints from pole position and gets the leading place; then he lonely distances Scribano and Corsi, until victory. Scribano suffers Vignone and Corsi’s assaults, while the Dutch Sarik Roufs slides. Overtakings are all for second position, Corsi manages to defeat Vignone. Castellini is fourth before Scribano.
In Race 2 Tiraferri leaves no way and gets the leading spot before Corsi and Scribano, who will move back and pave the way for Roufs and Vignone, recovering from rear positions. Vignone attacks Roufs, who will put pressure on Corsi by an endless sequence of overtakings. After falling in the initial phase, Castellini recovers and is newly involved in a fall with Tarabella. Tiraferri wins and precedes Corsi and Roufs.

In Race 1 the leading group, composed of Ivan Calce, Matteo Tortosa and Alessandro Fabbri, has very good start. The three make off the group, which offers overtakings and emotions thanks to Caddeo on fourth position. Goi is fifth and Giacometti is sixth. Two fighting groups of riders, attention is for the front group and the continuous overtakings among Calce, Tortosa and Fabbri. At the end Tortosa will prevail over Calce and Fabbri.
In Race 2 Leporati is the quickest, followed by Tortosa and Calce, while Ivan Goi returns from the group and threatens Fabbri, who will get to second position, helped by Calce’s mistake, who has to go back. Tortosa has an uncatchable pace and wins before Goi and Fabbri.

In Race 1 the Slovene Marko Mihael starts first even sprinting from second row, and is followed by Ales Rakun and Petrakov. Bagatti, after getting the pole, has a bad start. Mihael tries to escape, chased by Nicolò Cionna, who’s recovered many positions and Mazzesi, fighting with a little group of five riders. If Petrakov loses ground, Mihael continues his escape and will win before Cionna and Mazzesi.
In Race 2, Mihael is off like a shot from second row, repeats the extraordinary start in Race 1. Cionna and Mazzesi give chase to him. But Cionna slides and opens the door to chasers, even though he manages to regain the second position through a good come back, before Petrakov. Marko Mihael wins, Cionna is second, Petrakov third.

In Race 1 Lumina sprints before all and tries to run away to the detriment of Camera and Benini. Birtele, who got the pole, has a bad sprint and while trying to recover, slides and loses one lap from the rest of the group. Lumina goes on escaping, while behind the duel starts between Camera and Benini. This one will attack and gain the second position on the last lap, before Lumina, and Camera is third.
In Race 2 Lumina has very good start, chased by Birtele who tries to speed up the pace. On third position Ivan Camera, who has to fight the unchained Benini, who will manage to go to second position. On the opposite, Birtele gets slower because of technical problems, so he opens the way for Leaso. In Race 2 Lumina is first, before Benini and Camera.

In Race 1, Ron Boon leads, followed by Romaniello and Calonaci (recovering from third row). The fight starts between Ron Boon and the little group led by Romaniello and Calonaci, even though from the rear Maione, very quick, comes and engages a sequence of duels and brakes with Calonaci. Boon meanwhile makes a mistake, slides and loses several positions. Calonaci stands out over Maione and Romaniello.
In Race 2 Romaniello precedes Calonaci and Ron Boon. On the fifth lap, Calonaci leads the group before Romaniello and Boon. Boon will lose ground and leaves the way for Maione and Calonaci. Maione, after having a new duel with Calonaci, prevails and precedes Botti and Romaniello, while Calonaci is unlucky and ends up to the ground because of a contact.

Jody Giannecchini starts from pole, but has to surrender to Morelli’s speed, who takes the leadership, followed by Starnone and Rota. They seem to have an edge, compared to the rest of the group. Vitali shows a good performance, recovers many positions thanks to a sequence of overtakings, which take him to leading position, pursued by Morelli and Starnone. On the last lap, Morelli prevails over Vitali on photo finish final sprint, while Starnone is third.
Morelli leads in Race 2, followed by Bartolini and Starnone. Morelli has a quick pace, Vitali on the seventh lap makes a mistake and is bound to recover. Morelli and Bartolini carry on the fight for first position, chased by Righetti. Starnone makes a mistake on the final phase and gives third place to Vitali, preceded by Bartolini and the winner Morelli.
