The Scooter Polini Italian Cup, organised by Moto Club Bergamo, ended on the track Tazio Nuvolari in Cervesina, in the southern part of Pavia province, through an endless sequence of emotions, thanks to the presence of many stranger riders, especially the great race of the Spanish Oliva Alcantara Juan, the winner of Scooter 70 Evolution Open, who has preceded the new national champion Nicolò Castellini. These are the other new national champions of Polini Italian Cup 2018, beside the champion Nicolò Castellini: Filippo Mazzini Scooter 70 Evolution Fans, Ivan Calce Scooter 70 Evolution Super Sport, Fabio Starnone Scooter 100 Big Evolution, Marco Caddeo Vespa 185 4T, Filippo Benini Vespa 135 2T.

In Race 1, Andrea Vignone is off like a shot, chased by Corsi, Starnone and Tiraferri. On the first lap, Starnone gets to lead, but Corsi attacks him and takes the reins. Sudden change when Blando is bound to withdrawal. The exchanges on the race summit are continuous and Vignone takes back the control of the race, as Corsi doesn’t give up. Righetti shows to be able to fight for the podium. Three riders run away and on the final Corsi triumphs before Starnone and Vignone, while Tiraferri has to go out of race.

In Race 2 Starnone goes back up from second row thanks to an incredible start. Behind, Vignone, Corsi, Blando, Tiraferri run after. Corsi assails Starnone and takes charge of race, as Vignone analyses their trajectories from behind. Plays of trails and hard brakes are the ingredients of this race. After a sequence of overtakings, Blando goes to lead, but the competition rapidly changes and on the final rush, the victory goes to Vignone over Starnone who graduates national champion of this class. Day podium: Vignone, Starnone, Corsi.

DOUBLE BIRTELE, VICE CHAMPION BY A WHISKER


Burning start in Race 1 of Luca Fuschini on his Lambretta, he can’t get any score but is very quick. Luca Zani, at his seasonal debut, and the English Conneely, on Lambretta bike, chase him. Behind them, the championship protagonists; Birtele and Benini hunt for precious points for the parade. Final sudden change; Zani has to withdraw and leaves the way for Birtele who passes Benini and Mammi.

In Race 2 Birtele takes advantage from Benini’s hesitation at start and takes the control of the race, chased by Conneely and Mammi. Zani and Fuschini don’t get underway. Birtele keeps a high pace and Benini is busy with the control of his own race after passing Mammi. Birtele wins but Benini is the champion. Day podium: Birtele, Benini, Mammi.

SCOOTER 70 AMATORI:
ROSSI DOMINATES BUT MAZZINI IS THE CHAMPION


In Race 1 Lorenzo Leonardi sprints to the lead, followed by Daniele Rossi. They both try to force the pace; Rossi assaults and passes Leonardi even though he replies by taking back the first position. Third is Mazzini, chased by Marola and Galbiati. Clemente climbs back from the group, while Leonardi is bound to stop and go out just two laps to go. Victory goes right to Rossi, on final sprint Mazzini wins over Clemente, Galbiati and Marola.

Race 2 is stopped because of the fall of Antonio Rubino. On the second start, Leonardi is the quickest, followed by Rossi, Mazzini and Esposito. Leonardi imposes his pace, but at the end he will be disqualified because of technical violations. Victory of Daniele Rossi who precedes Casagrande and the new champion Filippo Mazzini. Day podium: Rossi, Mazzini, Casagrande.

SCOOTER 70 EVOLUTION OPEN:
UP WITH SPAIN


In Race 1 the Spanish Oliva has a good start and surprises the Dutch Roufs. The Italian champion Nicolò Castellini and Penzo get into the fight. Olive sets his impressive pace, as the couple Penzo-Roufs tries to attack the Spanish rider. On the top, the first mistakes; Penzo arrives with too much push on a hard brake and so he opens the way for Roufs fighting with Oliva. After a sequence of positions changes, Oliva and Roufs end Race 1 in that order, before Castellini.

In Race 2, Roufs is swift and chased by Oliva and the unchained Penzo and Castellini. The three riders distance the group and Castellini, free from pressure, assaults Oliva and Roufs and takes control of race. Therefore Oliva doesn’t accept and takes back the control with Roufs, who is always duelling for victory, despite some mistakes. Castellini manages to snatch the win out of Oliva’s hands, as Roufs is third over Penzo and Gonzales. Day podium: Oliva, Castellini, Roufs.

CADDEO CONFIRMS TO BE NATIONAL CHAMPION


In Race 1 Giuseppe Russo has a good start and is followed by Caddeo and Baglioni. The leading group is compact and many turns of events fill the competition; Caddeo is passed by Nardo and Baglioni. Russo’s pace is impressing and gathers a considerable advantage over his rivals. Meanwhile Caddeo finds again the necessary pace to ensure the second position for himself, that he will keep till the chequered flag behind Russo. Third is Baglioni who precedes Fabbri and Bagattini.

In Race 2, Russo takes the first position before Caddeo, Baglioni and Fabbri. Caddeo, after passing Baglioni, attacks Russo and tries to force the pace. They both show a great contest. Behind them, Fabbri repels Baglioni’s assaults. At finish line, Caddeo wins and repeats the title of the year 2017. Day podium: Caddeo, Russo, Fabbri.

SCOOTER 70 AMATORI SUPER SPORT:
MAGNIFICENT RAINERI, CALCE IS THE CHAMPION


In Race 1, Raineri is the quickest, Carlucci and Calce are close to him. Calce assails Carlucci and manages to take second position behind Raineri, who tries to resist Calce’s assaults. In the final phase, Calce seems to have the edge over the others and assails Raineri, thus conquering the title for sure. Second position for Raineri who precedes Carlucci and the Slovenian Martin Mihael.

In Race 2, lightning quick start of Raineri, chased by Calce and Carlucci, as Cionna enters the fray in the leading group. Raineri gains precious metres and ensures such advantage so that he can win over Carlucci and Calce. Day podium: Raineri, Calce, Carlucci.
