STANDING OVATION
A heartbreak final took place in the last meeting of the national Scooter Polini Italian Cup at the beginning of October, on Tazio Nuvolari circuit, Cervesina. A record final round, eighty participants, ten of which are strangers coming from Holland, Slovenia, Hungary, Switzerland and 32 took part in Scooter 70 Evolution Fans, and incredible race speed, more than 160 km/h of Scooters 100 Big Evolution, was recorded on the straight road of the finish line, with an outstanding play of trails. A highly technical agonistic race, where the Italian Champion of Scooter 70 Evolution Open, Matteo Tiraferri has shown his supremacy and has crowned the other five national champions of 2017: Filippo Corsi (100 Big Evolution Open), Diego Falardi (Scooter 70 Fans), Gabriele Beghelli (Scooter 70 Super Sport), Stefano Villa (Vespa 135 2T), Marco Caddeo (Vespa 185 4T). Classifications smiled at an eminent, qualified championship because it is open to all trainers and is fought till the last second, with a big show, and thrilled the participants, the trainers, the teams and the public.
SCOOTER 70 EVO OPEN:
PENZO, A DREAM COME TRUE
In Race 1, Castellini sprints and leads, followed by the Dutch Roufs and a group of riders, in which the former Italian champion Matteo Tiraferri tries to force the pace and becomes that group leader. His adversaries don’t give up and have a fight till the end, a fight for five, Penzo, Tiraferri, Castellini, Roufs and Birtele. At the end Penzo gets the better of him and has the first win of his career, before Tiraferri, Castellini and Roufs.
In Race 2 Castellini starts before Tiraferri, Penzo, Birtele and Roufs. The five protagonists keep on overtaking, Penzo looks for the second win, but Tiraferri beats him. Positions change at every turn, sprint arrival in this sequence: Castellini, Penzo, Tiraferri.
SCOOTER 70 FANS:
FALARDI CHAMPION, RACCAGNI PROTAGONIST
In Race 1 Destro has a quick start, surprises Raccagni and Roberti, who goes to take first position but can’t distance the rest of the group. The championship leader Falardi comes from rear rows and manages to reach the first positions and ends the top three parade, Raccagni is the winner over Destro.
In Race 2 Destro starts again before Raccagni and Roberti. The three try to escape, but Roberti is assailed by Lorenzini who gets to third position. On the third lap, Raccagni leads, followed by Destro. Raccagni tries to force the pace, while Destro is bound to slow down because of an electric problem. Final surprise: Roberti overtakes all and wins before Raccagni and the new champion 2017, Falardi. Podium of the day: Raccagni, Falardi, Destro.
VESPA 185 4T:
DOUBLE FABBRI AND CADDEO CHAMPION
In Race 1 Fabbri leads the race, chased by Leporati and Tortosa. After some turns, Tortosa assaults Leporati and pursues Fabbri: the gap is too large and at the end he has to settle for the second place at finish line.
In Race 2, Alessandro Fabbri sprints before Tortosa and Leporati, and Caddeo aims at making no mistakes to take home the necessary score and conquer the national title. The chequered flag awards Fabbri, Tortosa, second, and Leporati, third, while Caddeo wins the title 2017. Podium of the day: Fabbri, Tortosa, Leporati.
SCOOTER 100 BIG EVOLUTION OPEN:
STARNONE WINS BUT CORSI IS THE CHAMPION
In Race 1, Filippo rockets forward, followed by Starnone and Blando, who is bound to withdraw on the third lap. Race goes on through continual overtakings of Corsi and Starnone, while behind them, Zani, Knecht and Morelli offer a big show; then, Morelli gets out of race on the sixth lap. On the final sprint at finish line, Starnone prevails over Corsi and Zani, third.
In Race 2, the quickest riders are Starnone and Corsi again, chased by Morelli, Zani and Blando, who gets the third place without moving close to the two leaders. A new sprint arrival by Starnone, before Corsi and Blando. Podium of the day: Starnone, Corsi, Zani, and Corsi conquers the title.
VESPA 135 2T:
VILLA SURPRISES ALL
In Race 1, Benini leads and is chased by Tiraferri and Villa, while Larcher is fourth. Surprise on the third lap: Larcher withdraws and leaves the victory to Benini, who precedes Tiraferri and Villa. In Race 2, Villa has a good start. Before Larcher and Benini, who comes to lead the race within some laps.
Villa makes a mistake and is bound to start anew from the fifth position, and Tiraferri slides and goes out. Final sudden change: Benini has a technical problem, though he has the day victory and is near the title, and so at the end of an amazing come-back he leaves the win to Stefano Villa, who gets the title 2017 too, before Larcher and the Hungarian Attila Magda. Podium of the day: Villa, Magda, Mammi.
SCOOTER 70 FANS SUPER SPORT: BEGHELLI, ACE CARD
In Race 1, twist for the pole man Beghelli, who has to start from the box lane. Nucera comes to lead the race, followed by Buscema and Lazzoni. The riders fighting for the victory are even nine, Buscema manages to prevail over Nucera and Inversini; Beghelli is fourth.
In Race 2 Buscema has a good sprint and runs behind Beghelli and Nucera. After some laps Nucera leads the race, followed by Inversini and Beghelli, who assails, distances and wins over Nucera, Buscema and Inversini. Beghelli is the champion 2017, thanks to Race 2 victory and the fourth position on the first round. Podium of the day: Beghelli, Inversini, Nucera.
